UPA were contracted to carry out the removal of silt from anaerobic digester tanks, as a local contractor failed to successfully pump this out.
I used a 22 metre long reach excavator along with a Volvo A30 Dump Truck to carefully remove all sludge material to a designated location, to be retained on site. Once that i had reduced the level of sludge, i carefully lowered in a JCB telehandler to push all remaining sludge closer, to enable our excavator to fully remove all material. Once the job had been completed the working area was fully jetwashed and cleaned from any spillages and landscaped forming a bund for any emergency situations which may occur. All sludge material was retained in a catchment area to then be spread onto farm land to put nitrogen back into the ground.
