Moooove out of the way cows, UPA are coming in!!
I was tasked with tackling a muddy, messy farmyard drainage problem and level up an uneven cow shed.
After tackling my way through the wet sludge and manure, i prepared a dry working area. Land drains were installed and gravelled up to reduce any standing water and prevent any more soft boggy patches in the farmyard along with flow to storm drains.
4-6” clean limestone was imported and laid down to low areas then topping over with a 2” clean limestone with minimal dust which knitted together lovely once rolled and compacted. This then formed a nice, secure hardstanding. With a bed of straw down, this then gave the cows a lovely new bed, along with allowing the farmer to muck out with ease on a level floor.
